Young Roar draw with Wanderers

A pinpoint free-kick from Kofi Danning has earned Young Roar a point in Wedneday’s 1-1 draw with Western Sydney Wanderers in the Foxtel National Youth League.

After conceding a goal after 10 minutes to Wanderers’ Liam Youlley, Brisbane dominated the re-scheduled fixture but only managed one goal against the ninth-placed Wanderers.

New Hyundai A-League signing Andrija Kaluderovic was only denied by a quick save from Tom Heward-Belle in the 20th minute and his half-time replacement Abrahim Yango almost netted inside 10 seconds of the second half if not for another smart dive from the Western Sydney ‘keeper.

Devante Clut had a golden chance to level the score line a minute later after the referee awarded a penalty, only to smack to smack the ball against the crossbar, but it was from a dead ball where the Young Roar eventually drew level.

The Wanderers conceded a foul on the edge of the area with 20 minutes left to play and Danning stepped up to the mark, curling the ball over the wall and into the back of the net.
